Timing of applications

Hi,

Curious to hear some thoughts regarding the timing of submitting summer associate (MBA) applications for IBD. Some of the shops where I would like to work have opened up applications, but they are either coming to campus (virtually) later this year or haven't scheduled anything yet. Should I have my network lined up to go to bat prior to submitting which would mean a later submission or submit sooner rather than later?

Everyone I have spoken to, primarily 2nd years and associates have mixed opinions. Some say to submit as early as possible, others say to wait and make sure my network is firmly in place. Any insight from those who are involved in the hiring process or would know would be very helpful.
