TMT & Technology IB the same?
Hi all, I realize this is a super simple question, but would love clarification.
I am curious if TMT and Tech IB mean the same thing? I see bankers on linkedin at the same firm put TMT and Tech M&A that appear to be in the same group. Are these two notations the same? Does TMT vs Tech have superior exit opportunities then the other? Curious why there is disparity between the two even if they’re in the same group. Also, why do some put Tech and others put Tech M&A in linkedin even tho the same group. Thank you in the advance for the clarification!
TMT is tech, media, and telecommunications. Some banks like GS and BofA just put it under one umbrella (TMT), while banks like JPM and MS split it into a tech group and then have a separate media and communications group. Exits are bank/group dependent
Thank you! Is TMT seen as superior as it includes tech + media and telecom rather then tech not including media and telecom?
No. Just more of categorization than anything else.
Thank you! At the firm I’m doing a SA at some bankers put tech m&a and others put TMT m&a - what would be better to put in my LinkedIn? Also some put m&a others don’t is there a reason?
What bank are you interning at? I want to apply for FT and I think they will have atleast 1 2025 spot...
