Too soon to lateral?
I was laid off in 2023 from a BB, and it took me several months to get a banking job at a MM which I have been at for 3 months. I got this job through an MD at the BB I was close with. I now have a shot at an EB interview through someone else in my network. Should I submit an app? Anything I can do about mitigating the damage done to my old network? I want to get to an EB long term and getting a full year with them before VP promotion seems beneficial to me.
No reason at all to sit around at a shop you don’t want to be at long term. That’s soul sucking. 3 months vs one year makes no difference realistically. Would advise to bounce as soon as you can.
Ya, you can do that and take the MM off your resume if you get it. I'd shoot your shot
Just curious but whats the point of lateraling if you don't plan to exit to the buyside? I thought most targeted BBs/EBs due to their MF/UMM buyside exit opportunities. MMs and BBs in terms of compensation are very similar so if IBD is your longterm plan why go back to a BB?
