I was completely aware, but this was my only non-boutique offer towards the end of the recruiting season so I had to accept.
Not a bad idea. You should lateral but that will be easier from UBS brand than a small boutique. Good decision bad timing but you can get out of it. Had a similar situation happen to me, accepted summer offer for a group that got completely poached by the time I joined full time and was able to lateral upstream quickly
