Generally, the ranking amongst law, investment banking and consulting recruiters tends to be as follows:

  1. LSE
  2. UCL
  3. Warwick
  4. Bristol
  5. York
  6. Nottingham
  7. Durham
  8. Manchester

To be fair, recruiters from the top firms only target around 5 universities in the UK, they tend to be Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and Warwick/UCL...

For international reputation, only LSE holds any weight, perhaps UCL as well, but not often.

I went to Warwick and enjoyed it. A lot of banks give presentations/workshops, attend careers fairs etc.

I'd probably say has the most LSE weight with banks too and you'd be based in London for interviews.

I had never heard of any of those universities except LSE, Oxford and Cambridge before I spent my summer stint in London.

I think LSE is considered on par with NYU-Stern or slightly better...but most likely less reputable than UPenn-Wharton. On the other hand, Oxford and Cambridge are clearly on par with most of the Ivy League universities.

In my opinion, LSE, Oxford, and Cambridge are well known and have good reputation in the U.S.

Besides the three, hardly anyone in the U.S. would know the difference between Warwick/UCL/Imperial and Nottingham/Durham/Manchester etc.

I am also pretty certain that many of us here hadn't heard of places such as Bath/Durham/Nottingham/UCL/Imperial/Warwick before this post.

i was at LSE and think that the difference amongst courses is very minimal, banks don't discriminate on courses and Careers Service/events etc are common to all students. Best to do MSc Acc and Fin as its a "easy" course, Fin and Eco is notoriously difficult (do a search on facebook for the course and you'll find multiple hate groups!). Ofcourse, if you wish to keep the PhD option open, then Fin and Eco may be the way to go!

Not sure if you define "international reputation" by "known in the US", but Nottingham University's Business School is highly regarded among MNCs in the UK . They also have campuses in China, Malaysia etc so depends on how international you intend to go.

Also the campus is beautiful went there last week. Apparently its designed by the same architects as London's Gherkin - the iconic pineapple looking building for those of you who don't know..

I have been accepted from the Henley Business School (Reading) in MSc Investment Management and Manchester Business School in MSc in Finance. Which of the two universities/programmes would you recommend ? Thank you very much for your answer!
