Unique circumstances for an incoming transfer to target

Hi, I’m an incoming transfer student to Georgetown for spring 2025 from GeorgiaTech. I will be a sophomore then. However, I will have only completed 2 semesters of college (fall 2024 and spring 2025) as I could not attend university this semester due to a major shoulder surgery (basketball injury). However, I will still be graduating on time as I have some AP credits and will be taking summer classes at Georgetown to make sure I do. In my 2 semesters at GeorgiaTech I got a 3.87 GPA but took no finance/ Econ courses.

  1. Given the fact that I only completed 2 semesters at university, but will still be graduating on time, am I still eligible for top investment banking SA26 internships?

  2. As I know that one’s GPA is quite important, will it matter that my 3.87 is from GeorgiaTech and not Georgetown? Will I still get Georgetown’s target status for recruiting for SA26 internships given my GPA is from GeorgiaTech?

  3. I otherwise have been told I have a really strong resume filled with high level projects, strong internships, and many leadership roles (PM if your interested) but at GeorgiaTech, I did not participate in any finance clubs. I didn’t do this as I studied abroad my first semester through a special program (for what it’s worth, at a very prestigious UK university) and my second semester, I already had my eye on transferring so I didn’t feel it would be useful to join many finance clubs. Will not having finance clubs be a major issue for recruiting in light of an otherwise strong resume? I will try very hard to join them at Georgetown.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the feedback.

  1. Regarding the 3rd question, given the context, is not having finance clubs a major problem?

  2. Also, given recruiting is so early and I won’t have a finalized GPA for even a semester at Georgetown by the time the recruiting process starts, what would I put down when the ask me my GPA?

  3. Lastly, will I be able to do some on campus recruiting this spring semester on Georgetown for IB?

Sadly I think OCR will probably be done before u get to campus in the spring given how accelerated processes are now - however I wouldn’t be surprised if some of ur core schools came in the spring.

I don’t think not having any finance clubs is a major problem. It will just come down to how ur able to spin ur interest in banking - which will prolly be harder to do without anything related on ur resume - u can PM me if u want and we can work on that.

If u have ur Georgetown email I would just start emailing as many ppl as possible rn and I don’t think u will be marginally behind any of ur peers

Re GPA - it depends on how u format ur resume after transfer

Did something similar. If financial aid / your financial circumstances allow for it - I would highly recommend you delay grad by a semester to reclass for SA27 as your "junior internship".

This is not a frivolous take, please trust me when I say I have seen this story a million times and I don't say this lightly.

Is it doable for 26? Sure - but it will be a massive hill for you to climb: finesse your way into OCR (not sure if even possible since happening rn), get a stellar GPA / recruit for hyper competitive clubs, and frankly most importantly - acclimate to a new campus alongside meeting new friends / building your network, meeting cute girls (or guys?) and just have a solid college exp all at the same time

I'd advise you to delay grad by a sem, you use this year to fight your way into top finance clubs, get a solid internship and hit the ground running as an absolute stud for SA27 opps this time next year and not burn your shot at all of these 26 ops rn

feel free to dm
