UnitedHealth/Optum M&A/Corp Dev? (x-post CF)

(Crossposting from CF since that forum is pretty quiet and the info would be relevant on this end)

Have a superday with this team next week for an immediate postgrad. Seems like an exciting opportunity, but I don't know anything about how it's viewed/potential exit opportunities (apparently there's strong exits within UHG). Not a lot of content about these guys despite seeming to be a major group in the HC space so curious if anyone knows anything? Thanks WSO!

Knew a few folks who went there both post-grad and post-banking.

Churn and burn. High turnover. Banking expectations, without the pay. Used to have standing Saturday morning meetings. However, my info is dated (2-3 years).

It’s big - they have a good number of people. Good number of ex Banking / Consulting level in mid and senior level. As someone mentioned, long / hard hours. Senior management (like CEO/CFO) comes to office Saturday so you’ll have that going for you. Positives include being exposed to the largest and in my view the most sophisticated internal M&A team in healthcare services. They can do $10mm to $15bn deals mostly in house. Almost every bank wants to court them. Every company / PE wants to sell business to them. So you see everything. Spending lot of time and dollar on M&A across the spectrum (provider, pharmacy, HCIT). Even lot of international.

Thanks! So it seems like a good place to start and it wouldn't be unthinkable to move to NY for IB/HC PE after a few years given the experience there? Also, seems like they promote people really quickly (met several people who were made associate midway through their second year) so strong on that front too.
