Urgent Advice Needed - any help is greatly appreciated

I went to a non-target and had a 3.5 GPA. I networked my way into getting an entry level job doing business development for a boutique hedge fund/asset manager for $45k a yr in NYC.

I've been recently offered a front office structuring role in the global markets group of a bulge bracket bank (DB, CS, MS). The catch is that it's not in their NYC office and accordingly, it's only making $50k+5k sign on.

Do you all think I should take the job, grind away, and hope to parlay that into something better in a few years?...or should I stick with my current job, and just keep trying to find something that is a bigger step up?

I'm getting shafted on pay either way

But, do I take less salary now, and use the time that im working in NYC to find an even better job,? with almost no outstanding credentials to get me into any place good, but pass up the opportunity to have analyst experience on my resume at a BB?

.....Or do I take the obviously invaluable experience at a BB, crappy pay?

I would probably make the switch assuming that you like the position and the contacts you've made there. Also the 50k + 5k will stretch further outside of nyc if that is a concern for you.

I think you've answered your own question. Working at a BB in and of itself is invaluable. Pay difference is relatively slim so I wouldn't let that sway you. Networking may be that little more challenged if you're further out, but why will that stop you?

the other kicker is that my fiance, who i live with, has an internship at one of the top 3 pharma companies.

she got it as a reciprocation for a favor she did for an exec there she knows. (she graduated with a teaching degree)

she thinks it wont turn into anything FT, but she can know with 100% certainty until they terminate or hire her.

shed have to give this up if I took the job at the BB.

I'm not sure how to weigh this in my decision.

Give it up? Why? If she thinks it won't turn into FT anyway, why not do long distance for the duration of the internship? You can take the BB, she can get the internship experience and then move to where you will be and leverage her recent experience to find something there.
