URGENT: can’t use alt shortcuts on excel, special characters come up everytime I try use alt, I’ve spent an hour on google and couldn’t find a solution for something this simple?? I have an intern deadline please pleaseee help

Perhaps have another language installed and pushed ALT + Shift at the same time? Go to the Language bar and uninstall other languages if that's the case.
If not try turning off windows keyboard shortcuts: windows key -> type in "keyboard shortcuts" and disable everything
Sounds dumb but try unplugging your keyboard and plugging it back in, and restarting your computer.
That's all I can think of for now, short of going into the BIOS and rebinding keys.
I’m not sure if this will work but when I once had this issue I went into task manager and restarted windows explorer. It ended up fixing it for me. I can’t recall whether or not I had to restart my computer afterwards, though.
