use of linkedin

several people from my firm are in LinkedIn. Some are analysts-associates (so I can add them freely) but some other are senior. Is it too douchey to add them? (ps: some of them are people outside my group, but I've had the chance to talk to them 2-3 times in my tenure. Most important, I'm not a junior at school so I'm thinking it will be a good way for them to remember my existence when recruitment comes in a few years)

. . . I started using LinkedIn fairly recently - and I know the feeling. You've got a decent networking utility that is supposed to unite people from all steps of the ladder, yet it's becoming almost clubby and/or you're running into the same barriers you would normally encounter with regards to building relationships within your organization.

*My recommendation - Put together a SICK profile, then ask the person to be added to your network, this way if they reject you - you've at least gotten them to recognize your name and or it gives you the opportunity to nudge up a little by showing how much you appreciate your current position . . that is if you can compose yourself in your profile without being an ass kisser.
