UVA McIntire vs. Duke/UChicago/Upenn

I’m a current student at UVA, and wondering if it is worth applying to transfer to a more prestigious school for finance, specifically one like UPenn, Duke, NYU, or UChicago, or if the difference in recruitment/prestige is not worth the transfer process since McIntire is already a pretty good target.

I understand it would be incredibly difficult, but hypothetically transferring could be done, are those other schools seen as much better than McIntire for IB recruitment? (Also are there any other non-ivy recommendations that would be above UVA)?

Transferring is a huge pain in the ass the marginal benefit of transferring probably isn't there. It's really on the student at UVA if they don't land anything banking. My advice would be focus on being the best candidate instead of transferring. Plus it's near impossible to transfer into those schools ~1-2% acceptance rates for transfer I believe.

Recruiting is done by the time u transfer if ur a rising sophomore rn…if ur a freshman just grind and you’ll have a ton of options from UVA. Great school both academically and socially l

says the rising sophomore with no offer, we’ll definitely trust you

All are great schools, will be up to you to land solid internship and job. Just choose where you'd feel the most happy for 4 years.

Wharton might be worth it, but the other schools (while better) aren't going to significantly change your IB recruiting outcomes. As mentioned above, the Wharton name could give you a leg up in buyside recruiting. UChicago/Duke are also perceived as more prestigious, but UVA has a similar presence on Wall Street to those unis.

I would transfer imo, those 3 names will help for PE after 2 years in ib
