Vacation during sophomore internship

Hi everyone, I have just started my sophomore summer internship in PWM/AM and have heard from a couple of other interns that they are skipping their family vacations during the internship. My family already scheduled a 2 week thing in the middle of my internship for this summer. Obviously, I would not take a vacation during my IB internship next summer. But I still want to make a good impression at this place and do want to network with their IBD for potential FT lateral opportunities. Should I tell my family I can't go or try asking my supervisor if I could maybe take 2 weeks off? Other sophomores: are you taking vacation during your internship?

Context: worked at PWM/AM last summer. The above two comments probably didn’t read your post correctly. I’ve seen people in my office take vacations, including the junior interns. Honestly, this is something you can sense during your internship, as your place might be WLB-oriented and will have ZERO problems with you taking vacations. Hell, even my boss encouraged it, because he thought kids these days worked way too early. You won’t have a lot of vacations with your family in the future if you work in IB, so if you can take a vacation, do it. Just ask, honestly. And I’m assuming you’re not gunning for a return offer from this place.
