So you finally received that offer you've been dreaming about since you were a child. With the competition breathing down your neck and a generation of super monkeys looking to take your job, what are some words of wisdom/pieces of advice that has kept you ahead of the pack. I'll start.
Always show up to work 15-20 minutes before you're supposed to be there. That way you'll never be late, and you should be in the office before anyone else.
Always keep your Superior updated on what is going on. (shoot an email every other working day) Update them on what part of the project you are working on, why you think its important/relevant, any potential problems, and 2 potential solutions.
Have a good attitude coming into work, Interns should be the nicest, happiest, willing to learn mofo's in the office.
Please don't ask stupid questions you can find on google, but do not be afraid to ask good ones.
Don't make the same mistakes twice.
*I've heard that you should ask your entire team, everyday, if you have capticy (free time), for any work that they need help with. I've never actually done this before...

Be polite and show manners. When I was an intern I always used Mr. and Mrs. to address people. Until someone tells you differently, you should address them as such. I guarantee that at review time everyone remembers the intern that called them Mr. even if it was only one time.
As far as keeping your "superior" updated -- don't overdo it. 1) Excessive e-mail and fluff is a nuisance. 2) You don't want to set yourself up for micromanagement, and you don't want to create an expectation that you can't always meet.
Regarding taking on new work -- make sure that your supervisor is ok with this. I've found that sometimes bosses do not like their underlings being taken advantage of.
Ive found that making a point to spend a few minutes every few days or week talking to people about things that aren't work or maybe after asking a few questions talking about some common interests for a while are very helpful in building relationships in offices especially when you are an intern.
