Views on GPA with BB internship in hand
Earlier this year, I accepted a SA offer with a strong West coast BB group. At the time of recruiting, my GPA was ~ 3.8. I attend a large semi-target public school, also on the West coast.
Now that I have the internship (and assuming, hopefully, that I will perform well enough to receive an offer), how vital is my GPA? Of course, I know that there's the possibility of interviewing for full time positions after the internship ends. I also know that some of the bigger PE firms look at undergraduate GPA when considering candidates.
I've been trying my best to keep my grades up (I am by no means slacking off), but due to the string of hard classes I'll have to take over the next few quarters, I worry that my GPA could fall to a ~ 3.7 by this summer, and to somewhere between a ~ 3.6 - 3.65 by the time I graduate if I don't get lucky with teachers or classes.
Will these potential numbers really hurt me in the long run? Although I hope to take my academic performance up a notch in the coming quarters, I want to make sure I'm prepared for a range of possible outcomes GPA-wise.
Nobody is going to think less of you for losing a point or two on your GPA if your schedule was full of Diff EQ, Matrix Theory, Econometrics, Capstone, etc etc type classes.
do pe firms really put much weight on undergrad gpa after you've worked in ib?
it could certainly hurt you should you chose to apply to grad school
Why did this get MS? It seems even less warranted than the guy throwing MS at everyone who publicly admitted to going to a Canadian University.
