I attend a state school in Virginia, so I am applying to middle market and boutique banks throughout the south. I was wondering if anybody had any info on two firms; Sterne Agee and Davenport and Company. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sterne Agee is a well respected brokerage / research boutique. It looks like they have minor investment banking operations; that said, they are really known as broker & research house. Don't know anything about Davenport.
Theres a mid market investment bank thats a subsidiary of BB&T in reston Virginia called The Windsor Group. Think they specailize in Aerospace Defense and Government (ADG) as well as transportation (I believe they worked on the Panther Expedited IPO a few years back).
Not exactly. They have rolled Windsor Group's corporate advisory into BB&T Capital Markets.

Harris Williams but its pretty competitive. Davenport doesn't actually do that much in the IB space.
