VP at BB or Senior Associate at EB?

As title says. Which one would you pick?Recently got a lateral offer from MM BB to BB as VP and Senior Associate at an EB.Currently a VP.

Note that the VP role is in a geography I don’t really like but the Senior Associate role is in NYC.

I know people who have done the senior associate route when they tiered up firms. It's hit or miss.

On the downside, first off, it's a tough adjustment. It's not like going from associate to analyst, the roles are fundamentally different give or take. So you'll have to be mentally ready for this. You could also be stuck as a senior asso for longer than you expect.

The friends who made this work are ones who negotiated timelines and/or milestones to bump back to VP and did so in a year. Not just fluffy "let's try this for a year" type shit, real milestones, whether bringing in clients or taking point on execution.

OP here. Thanks for the insightful reply and understanding tiering down at some firms when lateralling.

You made some very valid points and you're right that I should understand when I'll get back to VP and not waste another 3 years at the associate level.

Rabbit, your posts have been incredibly insightful. I'm also in the Canadian market, are you based out of Toronto? For clarity, the BB is in Calgary and the EB will be in NYC
