WC start hrs.
For all WORKING west coast bankers, what time do you guys start? We all have to be in by eight & obviously because of its geography our NYC offices start at nine. But I'm still at my desk to two or three just like them however they get an extra hour. I just feel like I deserve an extra hr of sleep as well, not fucking fair (w/ extreme sarcasm).
Not to answer a question with a question, but since when is banking fair?
To attempt to answer your question, it really just depends on your group and bank. I know west coast bankers that go in between 8 and 9 and have their late nights that end usually at 2-3, and others go in at about the same time, and have their late nights that end usually at 10-12. By the same token, some NY bankers get in at 8, others at 9:15 - some are usually out by 9ish, others by 3ish. Before jumping in with a group at a BB, use the sell day to get the inside scoop into which groups work the worst hours, which seem to have the best fit with your personality, etc.
In short, although you work until 2 and another banker may work until 11, there is a 3rd who is working until 4 or 5. Don't focus on how unfair banking is or could be - just accept it, and move on when the opportunity knocks (if you want, that is).

^^ I meant the "fair" comment with sarcasm. I was just wondering what the average WC start time was for other bankers.
Oh, sorry about the slight confusion - from what I've seen, average start time is around 8:30-9 - of course a really late night usually gives some slack for the next day (assuming the project was completed the night before and there are no pressing issues the next morning).

doesn't the WC have a reputation for being a bit more chill than NY? where does that come in?
