Weird business model: group almost only pitches
I'm at a big bank's coverage team. Experience < 1 year.
For some reason, my group only pitches and does not do execution work independentl --- we always have an execution deal doing the actual paperwork and models for clients, and my group only help them out when they ask.
I feel like trapped. Apparently whenever my group pulls in a deal for the company, say as the lead bookrunner of an IPO, we get good bonuses. However, due to the same reason, when we do not get deals, we get a bonus that is less than a tip.
Any advice? Should I look to lateral ASAP after I hit the 1~1.5 year mark?

Hope that helps.
I just commented on another post. Lateral ASAP. Start now and you should be out before being analyst 2. And know that you will be grilled on your technicals. If you don’t even do the modeling that’s ridiculous
Yeah that was me...damn...are you at a fairly big bank?
