You got in your head. It happens. Hell, when I was coming out of college I wanted to work in a prop shop. I won't lie, the one good interview with a shop I got, I bombed the fuck out of a brainteaser and it threw me off my game. That caused me to mess up on later parts of the interview.
You learn from it. Later, I interviewed with that same prop shop and got an offer. That's because I had the reps down. I knew what I was doing. And when I made errors, I worked to correct them and not let them mess me up. You're probably going to make another silly error at some point interviewing. A big thing I look for in candidates now is how they recover from those mess ups.
You know man, I appreciate your honesty.
The truth is, I did get in my head, and I let that fuck me up. I need to reevaluate, get more reps, maybe even do a year at a LMM, and lateral when I know I’m there.
Life is long (hopefully), it’s never about doing it the first time, it’s just how you do after you don’t.
Hey man, I started out on a not so great desk at a bank that I did not want to be at. Ended up exiting to prop and now I'm in RV/macro. Greatest thing about finance is that once we break in, we have a reputation that gets us jobs, not some dumb interview questions.
You are the man!
Just have to keep going. Nothing can stop me so long as I don’t give up.
