What does taking ownership of a subindustry mean in IB?
I recently went through a experienced hire IB analyst process and they said they want the analyst to slowly specialize in a sub-industry and TRY to generate business. What does this mean in terms of the work I will be expected to do? What about the difficulty (for someone junior)? Is this normal, bad, or would be a great opportunity, relative to "normal" IB?
They want an analyst to generate revenue? That's a really tough ask - unless you mean they want you to get experience over your analyst and associate years and then start doing BD as a VP.
But a subindustry would mean if you were in TMT, you would specialize in broadcasting for instance.
