Purely depends on extra circulars and major.

Example:

Star player on sports team at top school with 3.3 probably going to get an offer somewhere.  Did nothing in undergrad with a 3.3. % of offer chance at a decent firm approaches zero.

Here' some more categories that adjust the GPA.

Hard major -  lower GPA more acceptable

Sometimes first-gen/Diversity - lower GPA more acceptable

Sports teams - lower GPA more acceptable

Better School - Lower GPA sometimes acceptable

things that don't get GPA drops:

Student government, Club's, Internships/work, Volunteering

Generally, It is a little bit school dependent but also 3.7+ is starting to get pretty safe.  3.7-3.5 starts to get dicey,  and under 3.5 I would say requires some explaining.  Under 3.0 probably need to lateral later on typically.

Disagree with this sentiment. The amount of work to get an A sometimes is much more than a B+ or even A-. It might be better for recruiting to take the grade hit and instead pursue other E.C.s on campus.

I go to a target (UMich/UVa/NYU) and had no problem getting interviews with a 3.7. I know kids with 3.5 that also did well. I had internships on my resume but no previous IB experience. Managed to get a BB offer so I think as long as you have a 3.5 you will be ok. However, if you go to a semi-target or non-target you probably need a higher GPA around 3.8+.

Same school here and would add that for top groups a 3.8/3.9+ is really helpful

Got in with exactly a 3.0 as a nontarget. Obviously had to explain why to the interviewer, but internship experiences + trying to start a business helped my case.

Depends group to group and on your background. I have less than a 3.0 and I still broke into banking from a non-target school. Just know how to network effectively, build strong work experience, be genuine (or atleast seem it) and be charismatic and strategic when talking about your previous experience as it relates to an IB role.

3.8 is golden. Doesn’t require nearly as much work as a 4.0, but is still respected nonetheless and allows you to qualify for deans honors and summa cum laude honors at most schools.
