What is it like to be a IBD product controller?

Hello all, first time in WSO asking questions about IBD product control

I did a quick search in the forum to see if I could get some insights, but most of them are very old posts with not much attention to it.

Is the PC job really that bad? I'm seeing people stating that it's a dead end job but it has a good pay.

I come from a non target background, I have no prior experience with finance at all.

I work operations at BB and have a chance to interview for this IBD PC role but searching online, the future doesn't look too bright for this role.

But of course, this would be my great chance to break into finance at BB.

Because I have no background but lucky enough to work at BB, I am also less inclined on switching to a different company that's much smaller

I would definitely use this role as a stepping stone for better opportunity but the people suggesting isn't so great

I don't really know what I like to do. I would just be happy with landing a job that has decent pay 50 to 60 hrs, great exit opps and potential of learning transferrable skills

I am purposely working extra 1 - 2 hours everyday to increase my pay to about $80k, so I am already used to 50 - 60 hrs
