what to do after leaving a message to recruiting MD

This MD at a bank wanted me to call him today regarding possible summer opportunities there for IBD. I had to leave a message and gave him my phone number. What would be the appropriate thing to do? Should I wait a few hours and call him back? Or should I wait until later in the week?

Asatar:
Wait a couple of hours, don't leave a second message.

That.

Also -- If you can't get a hold of him the second time you call and he doesn't call you back by the end of the day you might shoot him a quick email saying that you tried to reach him as per his request and that you are very much interested in speaking with him and are available at his convenience.

IMO -- Doing so reaffirms to him your interest in the internship and building a relationship w/ him while showing that you respect his time and busy schedule. Curious as to what others think. I've used it several times with much success, but there is also the chance I've just been lucky not to piss someone off yet.

I called him around ~12 pm eastern time. Would it be better to call him at around ~5 pm eastern time if I did a second time? Then email him if he doesn't pick up the 2nd time.

People are leaving usually at 5PM (MD's anyway). Since its towards end of the day I doubt he would want to get caught up in phone call that doesn't involve a client. I would shoot him an email tomorrow morning then a call.

That's what I would do, maybe someone with better experience can chime in.
