What to do Senior Spring?

Have luckily secured a full time job in IB that I am very satisfied with. With that being said, what should I do my senior spring? I'm going part time with classes and don't want to be super bored.

Will start some prep for on cycle. Any other recommendations?

1. If you think there’s even an outside chance you’d ever consider getting an MBA, take the time to get a great GMAT score. Score is good for 5 years and having a solid score will be invaluable if you decide to go to bschool / want to take a flier on it. It doesn’t take that much prep to get a good score for most people smart enough to get into banking

2. You’re currently at a point in your life where you have time (7+ months), freedom (depending on school workload / in-person requirements), and presumably your youth / health. There’s a decent chance you’ll never have this unique combination ever again to this extent. Use the time to do whatever it is you enjoy doing, but I would encourage you to think of things through that lens. Now that the world is open, travel. Go to Europe for a few weeks if you can swing it, even if just by yourself. Spend the time getting good at golf or playing a ton of pick up basketball. Spend the 7 months working on a startup idea if you have something you want to try out. Use the time to get in the best shape of your life and create a routine that can carry over into your working life. You’re about to make a lot of money, so don’t let your current bank account restrict your thinking - borrow a little money if you have to. Money will come easy on the path you’re on, time and freedom will not. Enjoy it!

Really appreciate your take here. I am in the same boat as OP and love to travel, although I don’t see any others doing the same as you described here. Might as well take that flight to Africa during syllabus week while we still can.

I’m studying for gmat since my non target ass with low gpa will get axed during on cycle pe

I graduated in May and made a huge effort to be with friends as much as possible. It doesn’t have to be a big night out but have a couple beers and play pool/darts at the bar, watch Thursday night football together, play golf, etc. instead of spending an extra hour to get a perfect score on an irrelevant assignment. By senior year, you should be very efficient at studying anyway so it shouldn’t be hard to get by without doing as much schoolwork.

Now that I’ve moved to a new city without my college or hometown friends, I definitely miss that time with them.

I started working out like crazy senior year. Turns out I work out 3-4 days a week now and love it. I really think overall health makes a big difference in energy levels in this job so I think it’d be highly beneficial to build a baseline level of health while you have the time. Also, learn how to cook a few easy “staple” meals that are nutritious and quick to make. It beats the easy and often unhealthy doordash. Cooking helps clear my mind from work even if only for 15-20 mins.

1. Get in a good exercise habit before work hits (2-3x per week)

2. GMAT if you're interested in bschool (scores last 5+ years and you usually would go after 2 years IB + 2 years investing / ops)

3. You'll have to take your SIE and series exams

4. CFA if you're interested in certain HF or investing roles at certain shop

5. Date

6. Hang out with your friends before you all start having responsibilities

7. Read more books, esp. investing ones if that's what you want to do after banking

8. Start preparing for oncycle, do models

9. Go travel for a few weeks
