What to wear to a work happy hour?
Hey guys, I have a happy hour event in a few weeks at the boutique I will be starting at after graduation to meet the other analysts and get to know everyone at the firm. I was wondering what would be the appropriate attire for this type of event?
I was thinking I should wear a full suit (better safe than sorry) and ditch the jacket/tie if I am overdressed. Any thoughts?
Wearing a suit/tie is definitely your best bet, allows you the flexibility to take off the tie if you feel too overdressed.
Personally, I'd recommend keeping the tie on the whole time as you will be networking with everyone including upper management.
Perfect strategy. If you wish to be ultra-prepared, keep a set of casual (but somewhat business professional AKA a ralph Lauren polo or something) clothes in your car as well that way if it's completely informal, you can simply make the excuse you just got off work and you can quietly head out to your car to change.
What do the bankers wear on a daily basis (e.g. what were they wearing on interview day)? If they wear suits to the office every day, you better wear one to this event. If not, I would just go with a sports coat and a tie. Take the tie off if you're the only one wearing a tie.
Best to go with 1-piece male romper - really sets the tone for your analyst stint.
how come you get these type of jobs and at the same time need an advice on what pants to wear?
So true... essentially the only reason I was able to get a job.

Wear what this guy is wearing:
obviously a 3-piece and some yeezys
HYPEBEAST ALERT!
What city are you in? Is the office business or business casual? Dress to match whatever is standard at the office.
definitely wear a 3-piece suit to a WSO happy hour :-)

Absolutely yes! But also show off your "street" side with a Yankee hat worn indoors or something. Gotta give the impression you know the rules but want to skirt them as much as possible.
Wear a t-shirt and sweatpants...you don't want to look like a try-hard, trust me
Why hasn't anyone recommended the red suspenders with golden dollar signs on them?
Please, please as a general message to WSO users (by users I am referring to those who may not have very much/any experience in the industry) to stop overthinking what to wear, its really quite simple, your suits are used for every occasion, simply remove elements to more laid back the event. For example, business casual happy hour, arrive with jacket and tie, and ditch the tie if no one else has one. Casual drinks in a bar definitely loose the tie (some like to loose the jacket, I don't) Invited up to some hot chicks apartment, loose every stitch.,
Just blend in, and everything will go smoothly. Trust me standing out as a result of what you wear can be a very bad thing.
One very important point through - no skinny ties and ALWAYS ALWAYS use a full Windsor knot
loose
lime green suit and cape with gators' - let them know you're the real deal.
