What's the best time to do internships in college for IB?

Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm about to turn sophomore (transferring to a target school next semester), so I was wondering if anyone could explain what is the right/best approach to pursuing the internships, while still in college (if there is).

Which year in college would be the best to start trying to get internships, etc.?

P.S. - My experience is quite limited, so I may be thinking in the wrong direction. Thanks a lot for any answer!

Freshman internships are kind of jokes and waste of time imo, hence why u won’t find any real firms or companies offering freshman x internships.

Best thing to do freshman year would be join orgs, join info sessions , network early etc.

Sophomore internships are a great time to get an internship related to what you’d want to do (industry, sector etc.) also not a bad time to take a stepping stone internship that u can leverage to your “dream internship” for your junior summer.

If you get a sophomore IB internship that’s pretty impressive and going to be great for you, you get to experience what you like and don’t like earlier than most and if you’re well connected, smart and a little lucky can even turn this into maybe a PE junior internship (if that’s what you want) most people don’t have a sophomore internship (from what I’ve seen at least) so getting any real experience sophomore summer will already put u ahead of the crowd)

Junior summer is probably the “best” year to get an internship? For IB you’re getting ur junior summer internship offer probably in late Fall or early spring of your sophomore year.

Junior summer internship is most important as majority of the time it leads directly to a full time offer for when you graduate (assuming you do well in your internship). This is the goal for most as once you have your return offer you can really enjoy your last year of college and mostly be stress free.

TLDR: Freshman internships are jokes, sophomore internships are great but not as common for most, Junior summer internship will be most important

Cheers
