Depends how much you wanna dumb it down, but I basically just say you help companies buy other companies and use the example of Disney acquiring Marvel and say your job is basically trying to value the income of all Avengers movies from now till forever. You sell the excitement behind the job by saying you get to hang out with the people who own the rights to McKinsey Mouse and Spider Man. That's how i explained it to my sister at least
