When did you feel like you could pull your own weight?
When I was an intern, it looked like the new 2nd year analysts were totally independent in terms of at least being to completely do whatever they were told with no guidance. I've been on the job for a month now, and my fellow 1st year analysts and I still feel super lost. I asked one associate when he felt he was a net gain to the group, and he told me it took "a long time."
When did you guys stop feeling like you were a burden? I get this is just the standard process, but it still gets me anxious.
6 months at least. Also the 2nd years may look like they are doing it with no guidance, but they are still making mistakes, asking their VPs questions on new concepts, etc. But the first 6 months is a very steep learning curve, after that a lot of your deals and projects will be variations of things you've already done.
When my shitty associate decided he didn’t want to work past 8 or on weekends I had no choice
