When does "year 2" start for analysts / associates?

So say you start in July or August, does "year 1" last until end of the calendar year? Or does it last until a new class of analysts / associates start one full year from your start date.

Curious because of the jumps in base salary between analyst/associate 1/2/3.

Base salary and title jumps up at a mid  year cadence.

August 2023 Start

August 2024 Analyst 2 

August 2025 Analyst 3 or Associate 1 (Stub)

Once you reach associate and beyond, you level up at a year end cadence. Usually have to spend 1.5 years at associate 1 pay grade, so in this example it would be:

Q1 2027 Associate 2
