Hi everyone,
Just wondering when I can use my vacation days? I Started my internship in September and started full time in December. I am sort've burning out and need some time off. I also asked for a week using my vacation days to go through a training program I paid for myself (bank didn't even comp) and I would like to go through that.

I took a "vacation" half-day so I could attend my sister's graduation. I ended up burning a vacation day so I could see her graduate and then went into the office that evening. I told them that I was taking this day about 6 months in advance as well. That was the only day I ever took off in IB though.
My only two since graduation were for the funerals of my best friend and grandmother, so I feel this. I squeezed in a trip when I lateraled.

Vacation is not acceptable. Honestly though you started at a tough time because Analysts generally take off in the summer after completing a year or during holdiays in Nov/December when others will likely be less focused on what they are doing.
Just take some days off man. People don’t mind having you work until 4am, so feel free taking some time off. Personally took a week for Xmas (some took 2), and then a few more days since. Will also probably take 2 weeks this summer. I’m in London btw.

it is way, way easier to take days off in uk/europe than in the us. your advice doesn't really apply for most here unfortunately

Honestly people need to start using your vacay days, just grow a pair and log it in the system and tell your staffer.
Notice how nobody bats an eye when an analyst quits and the works keeps going? Trust me, the bank will be totally fine without you for a few days. Guarantee it won't remotely impact your bonus either, nobody even remembers when/how long analysts have been out.
