Is there such thing as a strong automotive group right now? Look into restructuring if you want to work with automotive companies.
Yeah - ML has a pretty sweet shop. There's a banker named George Ackert who was just named to the best 40 under 40 in finance (not just banking). He's the head of the Transportation group in Merrill's Gaming Leisure and Transportation group. Done a ton of deals.

hmm the auto group at ML is covered under the multi-industry group and is based in Chicago the global head of auto (also co-head of multi-industry) sits in Chicago
So, it sounds like pretty much all auto groups are located in Chicago?
Thanks.
Best Automotive Group on the street? (Originally Posted: 02/12/2012)
What is the best automotive group on the street? I'm very interested in Auto, and the auto industry is improving, so I'd think that deal activity would be improving too.
Also, are most automotive groups based in Chicago? I know Citi, Lazard, JP Morgan, and Sagent have practices out of Chicago? Is Chi the place to be for auto? Would automotive group at a BB or elite boutique from Chi limit exit opps into regular PE?
There are specific Automotive coverage groups? Isn't that grouped into Industrials coverage?
I was really impressed by BofA's GIG
