Which Banks still sponsor International Student?!?

I would appreciate everyone's input throughout this recruitment cycle, as I'm dying for clarity. Apparently, GS is on pause. A friend of mine said JPM stopped sponsoring for IB as well.

International students are so cooked

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s a breakdown of banks and their sponsorship policies for international students:

Banks That Definitely Sponsor:

  • Goldman Sachs (GS): Historically sponsors, but there are mixed reports about pauses in certain cycles.
  • Credit Suisse (CS): Known to sponsor.
  • Deutsche Bank (DB): Sponsors international students.
  • Mizuho: Sponsors without significant issues.
  • Nomura: Generally sponsors.

Banks That Sponsor with Conditions (Case-by-Case or Limited Quotas):

  • JPMorgan (JPM): Reports indicate they have stopped sponsoring in some locations (e.g., New York), but sponsorship may still occur in other offices like San Francisco.
  • Evercore (EVR): Sponsors but with a preference for top candidates.
  • PJT Partners (PJT): Sponsors selectively.
  • Jefferies: Sponsors but offer rates may be affected.
  • Morgan Stanley (MS): Limited sponsorship, often requires candidates to stand out significantly.
  • Citi: Sponsorship is mostly limited to New York groups.
  • Bank of America (BofA): Sponsors but with some limitations.
  • Moelis: Limited sponsorship opportunities.
  • William Blair (WB): Limited sponsorship.
  • RBC: Sponsors but primarily for H1B1/E-3 visas.

Banks That Rarely or Do Not Sponsor:

  • UBS: Generally does not sponsor.
  • Wells Fargo (WF): Does not sponsor.
  • Greenhill: Does not sponsor.
  • Guggenheim: Does not sponsor.
  • Rothschild: Does not sponsor.
  • Most Middle Market (MM) and Boutique Banks: Typically do not sponsor.

Key Notes:

  • Sponsorship policies can vary by office location (e.g., front office vs. middle/back office roles) and group.
  • Networking and being a top candidate can sometimes help secure sponsorship even at banks with limited policies.
  • Always confirm directly with HR or recruiters during the process, as policies can change frequently.

Good luck with your recruitment cycle!
