Why did C&R / HC used to get lumped into 1 group at a lot of banks?
As someone young / new in the industry, realizing that some banks used to have a "Consumer, Retail, & HC group" makes very little sense to me.
Can someone explain why this used to be standard at a lot of banks?
Because a lot of outpatient HC services have now become retail like businesses. Urgent cares are essentially retail healthcare businesses in many cases. https://www.bain.com/insights/whats-behind-the-surge-in-retail-healthca…;
Consumerism is also a thing, a consumer product that's directed to healthcare professionals went public recently - FIGS.
Interesting - thank you
Also think about the rise of direct-to-consumer medical devices like wearables, smart scales, etc. I think healthcare is probably the industry that's evolved the most in the past 10 years, similar to the rise in SaaS / tech between 2000 and 2010.
