Why is the media downplaying the looting and rioting?

This is getting insane, hundreds have died and so many business have been burned down. Why do you guys think outlets are downplaying this. CNN said that its a "myth". WTF do they think we're stupid?

Here’s a theory. It’s because the MSM is trying to keep their target audience. Often times the truth is more nuanced than what the media shows. Sometimes the “left” is right and sometimes the “right” is right. If the media always told the truth, they would inevitably end up pissing off some of their audience, so naturally they mostly gravitate to one side. They keep feeding their audience members the “narrative” they want to hear so they keep coming back. Can you imagine what would happen if CNN starting reporting the riots and black crime rates and Fox News started reporting income inequality between races? I think the audience of both channels would become quite disillusioned and would go to other news sources that feed into their worldview. It’s just bad for business, it seems.

Side note: Social media does essentially the same thing that the MSM does but on steroids. Think about how YouTube’s recommendation system works. You watch a series of videos, the algorithm notices a pattern in your watch history, and it then “feeds” you the kind of content you like to keep you hooked on the site. Imagine that you’re a strong conservative who binge watches Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, and Conservative Twins content. Now imagine that YouTube starts bombarding you with liberal content to teach you “the truth” or to give you some “diversity of thought.” Your conservative ass would probably leave the website for good. Same goes the other way around. Like I said, it’s just bad business. I think social media and the MSM are perfect examples of the tribalism and polarization in our country. How do we fix it? No fucking clue. I thought universities were there to teach students to think critically and rationally, but they seem to be going down the PC polarization shit hole as well.

Controversial

There’s currently a ton of peaceful protests at smaller scale compared to a few months ago across the country that don’t get any media coverage. The number of protestors >>>> the number of looters. Stop telling people who have been suppressed for hundreds of years and still suffer from police brutality every single day how to protest.

My grandfather was murdered. I will now burn down the businesses of people who look like the person who killed my grandfather.

Please PLEASE do us all a favor and move this to off-topic. Better yet, take it down altogether. People here have no interest in hearing the opinions of college freshmen on issues they don’t understand when there is better commentary available.

It's because... wait for it......  ORANGE MAN BAD

Or maybe we have people deliberately who literally hate America and are trying to cripple the nation from within by sowing deep divisions among people (to ultimately gain control and power). Let's throw the rule of law out the door and turn criminals into martyrs. If you speak out against the mob, you're a RACIST BIGOT. wooooo we love "peaceful" SoCiaL jUstIcE :)
