Will a recruiter hire a SUNY graduate over an ivy league school graduate if they take lower pay?
Lets pretend that there is a entry level investment banking job position. And there are 2 candidates who meet the basic job qualification requirements for the job.
- SUNY Graduate
- Ivy League School Graduate
The Ivy League School Graduate wants a total salary of $150k and the SUNY graduate only wants a total salary of $75k. Will a recruiter hire the SUNY graduate because he wants way less money and is qualified for the job although the Ivy League graduate is a better candidate?
This kinda reeks of desperation, not sure any recruiter would find it particularly enticing.
Short answer, no IB pay is standardized across almost all EB/MM/BB
No, the difference is meaningless to any firm except the smallest IB. Banks would rather have the "most" qualified candidate, $150k is nothing to them
No, but they might hire you over an ivy graduate if you work your ass off, get a great GPA, show initative and hustle, network extensively, and sound less desperate.
Gordon Gekko went to City College, but he wouldn't have taken less pay for a job.
You can work a lot less hours at a solid job for 75k lol I wouldn’t do IB for 75k all in at all
