how would they find the channel?

even if the channel is under your real name (which I doubt), nobody is going to look for it or find it. unless you tell people about it.

70K subs is impressive and makes money, but you are not a celebrity (yet). people probably won't stop you on the street and ask for a picture. your boss and HR will never know the channel.

if they somehow do find out I am sure they will be impressed.

Depends on your content.  Anything that could remotely be construed as racist, sexist, or discriminatory in any fashion will absolutely wreck your chances (whether they find out now or later when you have the job, which is far worse).  If you're talking about video games, then probably not.  But having any kind of public presence is a liability to an extent.

For what it's worth, we had an analyst at one of my firms that had a moderately successful podcast and compliance said he needed to immediately shut it down, or seek employment elsewhere. It likely depends how well-known your channel is and what the content is--like if you review pinewood derby cars or do something really innocuous compliance might be like don't worry about it. However, if its twitch streaming or something that can get even slightly more controversial the head of compliance at your firm might instruct you to take it down.

OP Here -- is it worth deleting my account or switching my account name to a fake name/username

why the FUCK would you want to work ANYWHERE if you have a channel with 70k subs??? you can potentially make infinitely more money than you ever will from working for someone else. dont be a retard

Some channels with 70K subs are potentially not monetized, depending on content. some gun channels were disabled. we don't know what OP is running.
Also, a youtube channel could just die off in the future.

but I agree with the sentiment, if you are making money and people are reaching out to you... why not stay on that track. at least until it really takes off

and some people maybe like finance too much to be fixated on youtube. anything is possible.

OP Here.

Honestly man,  ~95% of youtubers (from lets say 2010) died off or are a sad shell of who they (or their channel) used to be. There's also just no precedence for a true career and the life of most YouTubers seems to be about 10-12 years max before they become irrelevant.

+ I want a real career and v much value finance (tbh mostly PE) as a main job with youtube on the side.

exactly. recent example would be LAWHF. guy has 2.3 million subs and his recent videos are about how he is in really bad debt and might have to move back into his parents house with his gf. oof. Youtube as a side job is probably the way to go unless you start getting insane traction
