Will I pass the background check?

A couple months ago I was arrested for Assault and Battery on a family member (I was attacked first and I called 911). This was my first arrest and I'm not a violent person in any way. The case is likely going to be dismissed. I have several questions regarding this (assuming I can get the charge dismissed): 1. do arrests show up on the background check for BB's? 2. can interviewers ask about arrests during the interview? 3. If so, should I tell them upfront or should I wait till they come back and ask me? 4. is it possible for them to rescind the offer for this? Any input would be appreciated. I really would not want this to affect my chances after all the networking and hard work. (I'm not a US citizen)

Thank you in advance.

Hello answers to your questions:

  1. Yes, arrests show up on BB background checks. They do fingerprinting background checks so they do show up.
  2. No interviewers cannot ask about this during interviews, it would be discriminatory.
  3. Not sure on this one. So dont tell them right away. But once u get the offer you will have to fill out your history. Make sure to indicate it on here and maybe reach out to HR about it then.
  4. Yes, they can recind offers for anything. But they wont rescind if you tell them about it. If you lie about it, they will def rescing.

All in all, you are OKAY. Bad situation you are in but I would focus on getting it dismissed right now rather than contacting HR.
