Working out at the office gym as an intern
I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on what it's like to work out at the office gym, and what is appropriate to do as an intern. I was planning on bringing a backpack and stuffing a gym bag in it, then after work I would get a work out in before heading home. I am interning at a mm boutique in midtown for context. Please let me know if this sounds good and if you all have any suggestions.

Half of my office brings duffel bags. Some guys even keep a pair of shorts and several t-shirts in their desks. No one cares or will look at you weird.
I think the best practice is to either work out on your way out of the office, as you suggested, or if stuck late, work out after all the bankers more senior than you have left. Avoid the gym during "office hours" such as your lunch break, just because it sends a bad message however silly that may sound.
Nothing wrong at all with using the office gym as the intern. As iggs already pointed out, just don't go in the middle of the afternoon when everyone else is jamming at the risk of sending the wrong message. I think it shows a level of confidence and independence that you still hit the gym while crushing your internship rather than walking on egg shells about it / asking permission to go on a 30 minute run. Any reasonable AN/AS you work with should encourage you to do so if they know it's important to you and you've wrapped up your work for the day. Hopefully you find yourself in a culture that's supportive in that sense.
Actually gym is a great place to network.
When you see your MD is benching, offer to spot.
When you see your Associate is squatting, offer to spot.
