Young looking IB analyst

Is looking young as an IB analyst bad? I'm not talking looking a year or two off your age I'm talking looking like a high school freshman or sophomore type of age. Will I be taken seriously? Although I know most of analysts work is spent on excel etc. , when client-facing opportunities do present themselves will looking young be an issue?

Also do you have any tips for looking older. Any advice would be appreciated.

As long as you don't look like you're fresh out of the womb, talking still viscous from being immersed in there for months, you're good, my man.

Get Jiggy With It

Is the culture in IB still old school to the point that all Analysts need to be clean shaven? Is any facial hair/stubble/beard allowed for new analysts or is that a big no

Excess fat makes your face look fatter which makes you look much longer. I personally started looking like 3 years older when I got my bf down like 10% your results may vary

Babyfaced here too... A VP challenged me as a first-year analyst to have people always ask "where did you get your MBA" in meetings - implications about body language, comfort level with small talk, limiting verbal fillers/upspeak, etc. should be obvious. Was one of the more helpful tips I received early on.

Outside stage presence, don't underestimate the power of your wardrobe: wear a suit that fits with "traditional" (read: ~3") lapels vs thin "fashion" ones that will make you look like a teenager, freshly shined oxfords, conservative shirt/tie combo (e.g. tie is a macclesfield or other muted pattern vs Vineyard Vines print). If you look like a kid borrowing dad's suit for the homecoming dance... colors the first impression you give. Just my $0.02.
