Accepted my internship offer at Goldman Sachs but worried about my offer getting rescinded.

Hello everyone!

Recently, I was offered and accepted an IB offer from Goldman Sachs. I am beyond grateful and excited about this opportunity, however, there is only one thing that is worrying me. Upon my acceptance, my recruiter called me to congratulate me and verify certain info such as my major, graduation date, address, etc. They also asked me whether I would need sponsorship or if I can legally work in the US, so I answered no because I am currently on CPT and can legally work in the US and during my internship, I will be able to legally work without any sponsorship from GS

I received my acceptance letter, and while reading the terms, I came across the I-9 and how we have to fill it out and include any relevant documents, etc. For the I-9, I will have to state that I am an alien eligible to work and offer my passport or I-94, and so they will know that I am using CPT. In this case, I am just worried that they will rescind my application or straight up blacklist me.

I don't know what to do, should I apply to more internships or do I just stick with this one? I feel relieved and beyond happy to have been able to make it into GS but also don't know what to do from here.

I've heard from several internationals at my school who have interned at finance firms about how they answered no on the sponsorship question and ended up using their CPT and it worked out perfectly, and I have done the same thing with the current internship I have, I answered no on sponsorship question, and currently using my CPT with no issues but I am just uncertain and worried on how GS will react to that.

Any help/advice or stories from international students who have done the same thing or gone through the same path would be highly appreciated.

Do NOT listen to the dumbasses who try to get deported lying like that. In your case, the recruiter is asking whether you need sponsorship NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. The answer is yes, so you better contact them immediately to avoid further fuck-ups, chances that they won’t do anything bc GS sponsors. We internationals have to be transparent in literally everything - take it from me who was rescinded of an EB offer when they found out I’m international.

Woah woah deported? That has literally never been the case in any of history of internationals at my school. I talked with my advisor and they said since they're saying that I did what internationals usually end up doing and it works out for them so I am not going to sabotage my offer and if it gets rescinded then be it

Your school’s international student body is pretty fucking slick with all that to get jobs where internationals can’t huh. Worst case deportation, but if I were you I’d play my cards safe. One thing to note, if you’re in front office at GS, you might get sponsors, but MO and BO may not. Check with recruiters, worst can happen is them rescinding

Idk why u r so salty broski lmao my school is a top target and we place internationals in top firms all the time so it's not something new nor we need the ISS to be slick to place us at these firms so relax? You seem too invested in this for an international who's just trying to give advice. Again, thanks for the info but I'll leave it as it is :)
