Adding Tech Skills via tech bootcamp
Hey so infrequent poster, but longtime lurker. To give you some background on me, I have a M.S. Finance degree (one-year program for non-business majors right after finishing undergrad), and also a double major from the same university as an undergrad (target to borderline target school, regularly #20-25 in those USNWT rankings, top finance program though across both undergrad and grad business schools though). Unfortunately, coming out of the program, I did not get the top IB/consulting jobs that I was gunning for. So I settled on a job as an analyst at an Asset Management company upon graduating. Late last year I quit, and joined a start-up PE firm for reduced wages in hopes that the Series B capital raise would launch soon after I joined. It did not, and my employers were forced to let me go a week and a half ago because they could not afford to keep paying me with no light in sight.
So back to the main point of this post, I am seeking to supplement/bolster my skill set as I apply to jobs. I have been getting in touch with headhunters, applying en masse to jobs online, and hitting up my friends, contacts, acquaintances, and ex co-workers for leads like what you're supposed to do when job hunting. But as I scan job boards, I keep on seeing Python, CCS, JAVA, MATLAB, R, SAS on all these different listings for analyst positions. So my plan is to enroll in a bootcamp where I can learn the most relevant programs that will help me in becoming the best financial/research analyst I can be.
Most of these bootcamps though are geared towards building software developers, and getting students trained up to build their own apps and programs. While this knowledge is certainly useful, I think there have to be bootcamps more catered towards applicants with a financial background looking build upon their existing skill set rather than switch industries. If any of you are aware of any, please let me know.
Also i have heard of Byte Academy and researched it thoroughly already. I am looking for other financially-related tech bootcamps to compare it to. Thanks
