I am looking to gain some tips and advice from you all in the industry in regards to breaking industry.
I'm currently finishing up my 3rd year at UCSD. While my school doesn't offer a Business or Finance major, I am getting my BA in International Studies: Political Science/Economics focus, with a 7-course minor in Finance. Major GPA around 3.7 at the moment..
I am looking to get some advice on my employability upon graduation. So far under my belt, I have an internship in PWM, and an upcoming corporate finance/Treasury Internship for a well-respected engineering corporation this summer. I also have several extra-curriculars, such as being a varsity collegiate athlete for the last 3 years.
I am still currently seeking as much hands-on experience as possible to see where I fit in most within the industry, but considering a career in corporate finance, IM, or I-banking (if able to break in). Three very diverse paths, yes, but given the little bit of experience I have from my last internship and a hands-on IB course that I am taking at my university, those are the few paths that I feel I know the most about. Also in my goals are going after an MBA or CFA + relevant licenses, as recommended by a previous boss.

You have a few PE firms and a market data provider in SD that could apply to. Your best bet for finance jobs is LA/SF. Hustle and network, and land that last IB/Hedge Fund/PE internship. I cold called hundreds of funds to get an unpaid hedge fund internship, which helped me move into the buy-side. Best of luck!
