The only way that being a teller will help you out is if the bank you are a teller at has their IBD in the same building that you would be a teller at and would be able to interact with them. I was two steps higher on the ladder from a teller for 3 years, and that experience hasn't gotten me any thing, although my degree and non target school don't help either.

For starters, you should petition to have your career advisor fired from campus.

Do NOT become a teller. You never really said what you want to do except capital markets so other than that don't know what to tell you. If your goal is to get into capital markets, have you considered compliance capital markets? or another MO/BO gig that deals with capital markets desk? You clearly have not done the appropriate research yet about how to get into a FO role such as S&T and how people get there. I would take some time to read through the FAQs and top posts on the site and then reevaluate what your goals are going forward and how you can achieve them.
