Background check - Arrest 18 years ago
Hello guys, so I've been offered a role as a lateral hire at a BB bank in their operations division in NY, as part of background check I'm being asked to provide my criminal history, 18 years ago I stole a granola bar and was arrested for shoplifting, and I agreed to plead guilty with the understanding that after a few days of performing community service my record would be, and it was.
Should I report this on the background check? I'm torn considering it was almost 2 decades ago.
"stole a granola bar" lmao. I'm assuming you meant to say your record would be expunged, which if it was then i don't see what the problem is
I had a similar type of issue- DUI- not on my record. I put it on the background check and they called and asked me why I put something that did not come up. I told them and they said in the future to leave it off as it doesn't come up. So don't worry about it and don't put it on.
Thank you for your response. Much appreciated
I don't think anyone cares about small things like these from over 7 years ago.
I had an arrest on a crotch rocket in VA when I was in the Marines (excessive speed 100+mph). Shit came up as part of the FBI fingerprint check and all compliance wanted was documentation showing that I didn't have a bench warrant or fees outstanding with this incident. Since it was taken care of, they moved forward with the hire process and it does NOT show up as part of my Web CRD Brokercheck profile. You will be fine. I did not disclose this either and it turned out to be okay. Maybe I was lucky that compliance was more chill about this.
Why didn't you just outrun 5.0?
Okay... I was zooming up 95N and saw that my gas light had come on. I got off on the next exit and proceeded to find a gas station. I had gotten off the bike and taken my helmet off to go pay for gas, and the State Patrol squad car cuts me off (while walking) and says (not kidding). "Hey motherfucker, stop right there. Do you have any idea how long I have been following you for"?. I said, "no, sir. I am just trying to get back home to Alexandria". When he asked me for all my paperwork shit, I handed him my military ID thinking that it would work to my advantage. It worked for getting pussy most of the time, so fuck it, let's try in this scenario and see if it can work it's charm. He spit out some of his chewing tobacco and said "You're military, dumbass, you should know better. I am going to cut you a break. I am supposed to impound your bike and take you to jail now, but I will give you an infraction that makes you come to court. Don't fucking miss it and get an attorney." I fucking hated being Mexican that day and the day in court, my man (the judge) sentences me to jail over this shit. I am not kidding. This shit happened is some sorry ass shit kicking town called New Hanover. So I did not outrun 5.0 because I didn't even know 5.0 had seen me, let alone following me.
