Big 4 - CBRE Portfolio Analyst
So I'm in Big 4 Audit Financial Services. Made it through one year and realize audit is 100% not for me just like everyone else. I mean the testing aspect isn't so bad, but all the stuff dealing with compliance, memos, and checklists bores me to tears, and that is the stuff you deal with more as you move up.
I've been building macros for a lot of the audit work I've done over the past year and I really enjoy doing that as it is a challenge and requires some creative thinking. I feel like I would be able to utilize this skill more in the finance field.
I know one person from my office who made a direct jump to portfolio management for a small PE firm. I have been looking for similar jobs. Here is a qualification listing for a portfolio analyst job for CBRE:
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in mathematics, economics, finance, business or related degree; Financial/quantitative background with 2-4 years professional experience; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required; proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and financial databases preferred; VBA/Process Automation experience desirable; Prior exposure to relational database concepts and structures a plus; Understanding of investments, portfolio and performance concepts, Modern Portfolio Theory, returns based statistics, and fundame ntal equity valuation statistics is preferred; Exposure to Bloomberg or FactSet a plus; Familiarity with currency markets, exchange rates, and hedging concepts a plus; Willingness to pursue continuing education a plus (e.g. CFA, MBA).
Would anyone be able to provide maybe a little more insight on what this job would entail generally, and what kind of company CBRE is if people even know? I'm not really connected to the banking, PE, corporate finance world.
Thanks.
