Breaking into IB from corporate?

Hey!  I graduated two years ago from a top target undergrad b-school with a major in finance and always had my sights on IB.  Unfortunately due to some family circumstances, my grades suffered in undergrad (3.2 gpa) and I missed out on recruiting season.  Long story short, I graduated right when Covid hit, the job market was horrendous, and was extremely lucky to find a strategy & ops role at a leading media company where I’ve been for the past two years.

I’m still looking to break into banking, but unsure of the feasibility coming from a non-finance corporate role.  I do research and analyses for multi-billion dollar licensing deals as well as a lot of client partnership and ops work, but not much finance related, despite having the relevant coursework.  (I have PE internship experience from high school but doubt that counts)

Have I completely missed the boat and am I better off getting an MBA and then trying again?  Or is there a chance I could still break in?  Despite poor GPA, I believe my work experience has many transferable skills and I did ace the ACT if that makes up for any of it.  I’m also planning on completing the Financial Edge Training IB program if that can help in any way.

Appreciate any advice.  Thanks!
