Buy-side Opportunities for Fresh Grad in Portfolio Analyst - Emphasis on Macro Research or Portfolio Research

Title says it all. I'm wondering if there are any buy side firms that are known to hire recent graduates for research roles. I've just graduated with a master's in economics from a well known non-target where I focused my degree on Econometrics and Financial Econ. I'm looking for entry level jobs that will allow me to continue doing macro research or portfolio optimization. I see alot of quant roles listed, but my background in things like stochastic calculus are lacking so I'm not sure I'd be a target for that sort of a role. Any advice on a job search in this sphere? If my chances of buy-side right out of school are extremely weak, any advice for sell-side?
