Career In Operations At A Quant Fund? (Trade Support/Desk Assistant)

Would this be a good area to get into?

I have been working as a desk assistant at a small market maker and it feels like click trading/non-automated stuff is dying (especially in liquid stuff).

I would be most interested in trade support kinda roles.
