From a non-target but got invited for a first round interview for a SA role. Email came in September, and I was already signed to join an EB at that point. Unfortunately can’t provide insight in terms of specifics on the process, but just letting you know it is possible.

In my opinion, it is possible to break into Centerview NYC from any somewhat reputable school if you network well. Prior to this past cycle, they used to interview diversity and accelerated students at top targets in the spring alongside other banks and filled the remainder of the class in late summer/early fall. However, this year, they recruited everyone in the spring and held a big in-person superday in late April (although this was still relatively late.) I can tell you firsthand that they did not accelerate non-diverse candidates under any circumstances this year.

Interestingly enough, I know a handful of people across a wide variety of schools who signed there after not getting any offers when the rest of the banks recruited in March... and this has happened for years. (which I'm sure they are thrilled about as CVP is an incredible place to work.) But it is a very strange recruitment process for SAs.  Interviews are easier than pretty much every other EB talked about on this forum.

Why do you reckon they pulled forward the dates of Superdays from historically fall to Spring this year? I also wouldn't say CVP interviews are particularly easier than other EBs, especially given their unorthodox structure and mix of brainteasers/creativity questions.

It makes sense on one end for them to have moved up for talent but not really because they still were too late for non-diverse kids with competing offers. In regards to your second point, the technical nature of Evercore, Moelis, and Pwp interviews for example are much harder to BS your way through. Personal opinion of course.
