Deciding On My Next Move (Advice)

I am currently a senior at a target with a 3.0 GPA, yes I know its low but pretty late to get that moved much.

I have had internships at a financial services firm in their Finance and accounting dept, a BB bank in a back office research role, and most recently this summer as a equity research analyst at a long short HF.

I spent the better half of the fall pursuing contacts via email and phone. I have met with individuals in person to discuss their opinions on getting my career started, however it seemed as though wherever I turned only advice was given, not comments regarding the possibility of passing on my resume. I know this probably sounds dumb but all I need to do is clear that hurdle which my low GPA has constructed.

I had interviews for summer analyst roles in banks and REPE firms for this past summer, but was unable to capitalize on them. My ultimate goal is to get into the real estate private equity arena. I am currently trying to find a position within a middle market bank that would allow me this kind of expose, but I am hitting a wall in terms of getting that first round interview.

Any advice is welcome, I am all ears.

Be straight forward with contacts. Find places that have open positions and then reach out explaining its in reference to that job.

What happened at the Internship at the L/S fund?? (Something the people you are speaking with are at least thinking about)f

Fear is the greatest motivator. Motivation is what it takes to find profit.

To answer your question, I accepted the internship with the knowledge that the HF would not be extending an offer. I have heard of people having success in the non BB hiring rounds during the late winter and early spring, and additionally I was curious if people know anything regarding this notion.
